The Koshi Tappu Wildlife Reserve covers an area of 175 sq km and is in the eastern Terai region of Nepal. It lies on the flood plains of the Sapt Koshi and is for the most part, enclosed within the 8 meters high embankments of the Koshi Barrage, which has been designed to minimize the destructive annual floods. It is a beautiful and fascinating aquatic environment and is home to an astonishing variety of water birds that flock to its ponds full of flowering plants.
From Kathmandu, the Reserve is about a 10hour, 450 km drive along the Mahendra Highway. It is also possible to fly to Biratnagar, from where it is a 50km journey by road.
The reserve provides an important habitat for a variety of wildlife but, in particular, water birds, including several migratory species such as the sarus crane from Siberia. In all, a total of 280 different species of birds have been recorded and these include many varieties of ducks, ibis, storks, egrets and herons, as well as the endangered swamp partridges and Bengal floricans.
Koshi Tappu is also home to the last surviving population of wild water buffalo and its other inhabitants include blue cows, various species of deer, Gigantic dolphins and gharial crocodiles.

Detail Itinerary
Day 01Arrival in Kathmandu transfer to the HotelSomeone from Budget Adventure Treks & Expeditions will come to pickup you at the airport and transfer to the hotel. Overnight at hotel and trip explination
Day 02Kathmandu to Biratnagar by flightOnce you reach Biratnagar airport we will transfer to the hotel. After lunch at about 15:00 pm bird watching around the park and dinner.
Day 03Koshi Tappu Programme Early in the morning at about 5:30am we will give you woke up call and after 6:00 am we will start morning walk with in the vicinity. We will have breakfast at about 8:00 am after that again we start wildlife rafting on Sapta Koshi river with the magnificent view of nature with various water buffaloes, water birds, dolphins and various water habitats. After finishing our boat trip we will have picnic lunch. After lunch drive to koshi Barrage to view the life of water dolphins and birds. About 19:00 pm we will have dinner.
Day 04Programme day Today about at 5:30 am we will give you woke up call and we will start bird watching nature walk near vicinity and after breakfast we will start our our journey towards Pink tower. We will have lunch on Pink tower. after lunch we will start bird watching program. We will have dinner at about 19:00 pm
Day 05Biratnagar to Kathmandu by flightToday is our last-minute in koshi tappu. As before woke up call and bird watching nature walk near jungle. After our final nature walk we will have breakfast at hotel and transfer to the airport. We will have farewell dinner at Nepali traditional restaurant.
Day 06Fly Back to Home/DestinationSomeone from Budget Adventure Treks & Expedition will come to pick up you at the hotel to drop to the airport.
